We have approximately 300 children on role, organised into three stages and taught by qualified teachers with support from teaching assistants.
Foundation Stage - Nursery and Reception Ages 3-5 years
The children in the Foundation Stage are gradually integrated into the full life of the school. The modified classroom offers a bright, safe and secure environment with lots of exciting resources and facilities to make our youngest pupils’ early experience of school stimulating and reassuring.
Key Stage 1 - Years 1 and 2 Ages 5-7 years
The children in Key Stage 1 are currently organised into three mixed-age classes of less than 30.
Key Stage 2 - Years 3-6 Ages 7-11
Key Stage 2 children are organised into mixed age classes, which currently comprises of;
- 3 Classes of Years 3/4
- 2 Classes of Years 5/6
The children are also taught in ability groups for Literacy and Numeracy.
Year 6 and Beyond
At the end of Year 6 our pupils transfer to a variety of different schools, with the majority transferring to Madeley High School. The Hugo Meynell School has established good links with Madeley High and the pupils are well prepared for the move through a number of preliminary visits to the school and by members of their staff visiting our school. Everything is done to make the transition to Secondary Education as smooth and effective as possible.
